During 2009, our Teams carried out 360 investigations on behalf of the animals - cattle, pigs, horses, donkeys, sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, fish and crabs.
The ANIMALS’ ANGELS Teams were there with the animals – at ports, loading stations, on the road, at markets and auctions and in slaughterhouses. The Teams went where no one else wanted to go.
ANIMALS’ ANGELS Teams worked in 14 countries on 3 continents: In Australia, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and the USA.
Our teams travelled 196,721 km for the animals in 2009 (not counting air travel) and carried out a total of 400 inspections.
ANIMALS’ ANGELS organized 24 police training sessions with a total of 731 participants in Germany, France and Italy, shared knowledge about animal transports and completed joint inspections with the police officers.
The ANIMALS’ ANGELS Team in Poland corrected the hooves on a total of 431 "work" and "slaughter" horses and treated the claws on 63 cows. This enabled the animals to once again walk and stand free from pain. The Team gave 41 horses de-worming medication and 17 horses had their teeth treated so that they could again properly chew and digest their food. In addition, Anna, Najda, Karina and Bogdan looked after wounds on over 50 horses, treated hoof growths and malanders, bandaged legs, and administered antibiotics.
