Colombia: First Investigation at Five Animal Markets North of Bogota

Two Cattle Looking Through a Fence at an Animal Market in Colombia North of Bogota

Animals' Angels is in Colombia. Our intern Diana inspects five animal markets north of Bogota where cattle, goats, sheep, pigs and chickens are offered for sale.

All markets have a sporadic infrastructure with loading ramps, drinking basins and pens for the animals. But as so often the infrastructure is only used by a few. We see many emaciated and injured animals. Especially at two markets, the handling of the animals is particularly brutal. Diana tries to learn as much as possible about the markets and the control system and interviews the authorities and traders on-site.

Afterwards we evaluate the results of the investigation and plan the next steps to improve the conditions for the animals at the markets in Colombia.
