Animals’ Angels visits Ballarat saleyard where 9000 sheep are for sale.
Under the Victorian animal welfare legislation it is a breach to offer, to sell, purchase, drive or convey an animal that appears to be unfit. We identify at least 3 sheep in selling pens who we assess as being unfit to sell. It seems compliance to this legislation is not being taken seriously. All 3 are shot.
A partial deck collapse in a truck loading sheep results in 4 sheep being trapped underneath and sheep standing on the deck. We alert the driver who slowly attends the issue. Three sheep are physically okay but likely traumatised but one sheep who is severely injured is shot without delay. We will write to the Transport Association and ask them to remind drivers to ensure their truck is safe before loading animals.
