Animals’ Angels visits Dublin saleyard where approx 400 cattle are for sale.

The vast majority of animals are in good condition and seem quiet/calm. However we observe a small number of cull cows who are very thin. One cow has trouble walking, her hips appear to be uncoordinated and she struggles to move easily. She is separated from the pen and will be assessed later.

We also find one animal with an eye affliction. The skin beneath the eye shows there was discharge and the eye is closed. The manager arranges for this animal to have its eye checked and a small cancer is found. It is consigned direct to slaughter. The other animals are in good condition and handled quietly and well. We also check on the pigs who arrive for the sale the next day. There are not many pigs at this time but more will arrive as they day goes on.
