10.12.2013 | Australia, Muchea Saleyard

Animals’ Angels attend the Muchea Saleyard where approx 7211 lambs and 9366 sheep are being sold.

During our short ‘escorted’ visit time we are able to observe only some areas of the yard. We do not observe any unfit animals in the sale pens and most sheep are in good condition. There are no sheep classified as unfit for sale but fit to load in the ‘no commercial value’ pen.

Handling by saleyard staff is quiet, all dogs are muzzled.

All pens are under cover therefore cool even though it is 33°C outside. The floor of the selling pens is concrete and they do not have water troughs yet, but the holding pens have soft flooring using wood chips and have water troughs installed. Access to the water in the holding pens is unlimited.
