Animals‘ Angels participates in the kick-off meeting regarding the development of a European guideline for evaluating the transportability of equids. The initiative’s aim is to improve the protection of equids during transport. Still, sick, injured or severely weakened horses, donkeys and mules are being transported for commercial purpose. The EU transport regulation on the protection of animals during transport, which prohibits the transport of sick and injured animals, is interpreted differently – and often to the disadvantage of the animals - by the member states. The new guideline is supposed to encounter such abusive misinterpretations.
