Animals‘ Angels visits the weekly market in Sidi Mohammed Ben Rahal, between Casablanca and Marrakech. Like on many Moroccan markets, cattle, sheep, goats and birds are sold and slaughtered directly.

A veterinarian is present but responsible for meat inspection only. The brutal and medieval slaughter methods as well as the unsanitary conditions seem to be normal to him.

We distribute animal welfare leaflets and some people approach and thank us. To at least help the animals a little, we buy big water tanks and water the donkeys, horses and mules used to carry goods to the market.

Together with a Moroccan animal welfare organization, Animals’ Angels currently works out a project for the animals at markets in Morocco.
