ANIMALS’ ANGELS observe sheep arriving for the sale the next day. Handling was reasonably calm and many of the animals were in good condition. Since our last visit signs have been erected to direct vendors to use ramps when unloading and to muzzle dogs. Water troughs were very clean and sheep in waiting pens had access to water. However we did observe there is a lack of non slip flooring on the bottom of trailers which peri urban vendors use to deliver sheep to yards. As a result sheep are unable to have a firm footing and slip as they are being transported. The sheep also slip as they leap from the trailers.
