13.11.2012 | Poland, Kozlow Biskupi

On the 13th of November, members of the Polish organization Viva! visited an animal market in Kozłów Biskupi in central Poland, to check the condition of animals and to document any possible violations of law and animal welfare.  The market was held between 06.30 a.m. and 09.30 a.m. at temperatures from 5,5°C.  Apart from about 100 cows, there were 50 horses , few rabbits, hens, turkeys and ducks. The general condition of the animals was far from good, from many overgrown hooves to few thin animals. Handling of the animals was in some cases violent and abusive, and some of the animals were transported in ordinary cargo vehicles. Local authorities will be held responsible for all the law violations at the market.
