During wide-spread police checks, conducted together with Animals‘ Angels, various trucks transporting cattle to a slaughterhouse are inspected. Due to violations of the EU transport regulation several fines are imposed. On one truck we find a lying cow having severely swollen ankles and a hoof injury. Veterinarians are called in. The cow is transported to the nearby slaughterhouse. The veterinarian decides that the cow has to be stunned on the truck immediately as she isn’t able to walk through the stunning chute by herself anymore.
On another truck we find a cow lying and moaning loudly. During unloading at the slaughterhouse the cow walks of the truck autonomously but her unnaturally big udder is obviously preventing her movement – she is only able to walk with spread hind legs. She shows fresh and bleeding injuries at her front knees and several wounds at her hind legs.
