Animals’ Angels visit the saleyard where approx 500 cattle are being accepted for the sale tomorrow.
We meet with the manager who takes us around his yard. The majority of pens are under cover and offer soft ground. The bull pens are on the outside but adjacent to the main facility as the bulls are sold first in the ring. We note some of the pens have a high density in that the animals have little room to move. We also observe a cow lying down in a pen. The other cattle are startled when we approach and walk on her. The staff move the standing cattle out of the pen immediately so that she can rest and be assessed.
