Animals' Angels attend the Mundijong Market where there are several poultry birds for sale, several small budgies, several ducks and ducklings, 2 guinea pigs, 1 rabbit and 18 sheep.
The handling of the sheep and for the most part the handling of the birds was acceptable. Most but not all of the birds in cages had access to water and some had feed. All birds appeared to have sufficient room in their cage or box.
One vendor brought to the market a rooster with a contagious condition known as ‘fowl pox’ or ‘avian pox’. There was swelling around the eye of the bird and the eye lids were nearly closed. The vendor was asked not to bring birds with conditions that compromise welfare and health to the market in future.
