Together with the Italian Police and LAV (animal rights organization) Animals' Angels checks animal transports in Italy during a week of police training courses carried out in the regions of Liguria and Toscana. On Tuesday at 1:00 pm the car indicates 34°C degrees outside temperature. It is very hot and a truck with pigs is stopped by the Police on the motorway. The animals started their journey in Spain in the early morning and are supposed to arrive by ferry at a slaughterhouse on the isle of Sardegna the next day. The water system is off and some of the nipples are broken: the pigs cannot be supplied with water. The police ask assisting firemen to give some fresh water to the thirsty pigs and the official veterinarian decides that the animals must be unloaded and watered at a control post. The animals are sent to the nearest authorized stable and will continue their journey given that the water system will be repaired. The transporter is imposed a 5.000 € fine.
