Together with two state veterinarians and the local Police, Animals Angels inspects the traditional trials for ‘cart’ horses taking place at the animal feed market in Targoviste every Sunday.
In May, October and December 2013 Animals’ Angels witnessed how horses have been forced to pull heavy carts while being whipped brutally. Many animals collapsed, soaked in sweat, with wound at backs and legs.
Due to reports by Animals’ Angels the veterinary office agreed to monitor the events together with the local Police every Sunday and to at least prohibit the brutal whipping. The trials still take place but in a much less brutal way.
Some horses have obvious health problems. The veterinarians talk to the owners who all state that their animals are under treatment, but the team doubts it.
Animals’ Angels will keep an eye on the Sunday events at Targoviste and will stay in touch with the state veterinarians.
