ANIMALS’ ANGELS visits East Gippsland Livestock Exchange which is also known as Bairnsdale Saleyard for the cattle sale. 1000 animals are penned for sale in a covered and well maintained facility. The animal handling is quiet because there are no dogs and electrical shock prodders used. The density of the pens is such the animals have room to move and access the fresh clean water which is provided in all pens. No unfit animals were observed, signage is well placed and includes many welfare points, CCTV is used in this facility and, we are told a veterinary surgeon is on site during sale days.
