27.10.2015 | Confiscating Sick Calf

The team of Viva! Interwencje, on behalf of Animals's Angels, inspects a pumpkin farm, where 'farm' animals are kept as an attraction for children.

During the inspection, several large groups of children visit the premise. Among them the small six week old calf: thin, sick, coughing, and weak. The owner gets extremely angry that the team interrupts his business and tries to assault one of our inspectors.

A veterinarian and police arrives and the calf is examined. She suffers from pneumonia, diarrhoea and is very skinny and also dehydrated. Despite professional assistance from local police, the struggle for the calf's rescue lasts more than four hours, due to the stubbornness of the owner who tries all possible ways to make it impossible, even involving his lawyer.

Finally, the little calf is confiscated and transported to Viva's sanctuary to be treated and properly accommodated. The case will be taken to the prosecutor. Other animals, that also lacked water and were kept out of any registration will be subject to proper steps taken by the veterinary service.
