28.11.2014 | Inspection of Nine Calf Transports

Animals' Angels checks nine transports with young calves destined to further fattening and slaughter in the port of Koper in Slovenia. The young animals arrive at the port directly from Lithuania.

Among them, unweaned calves and weanlings. The information received by Animals' Angels reveal severe irregularities in the accompanying documents as the journey time exceeded the maximum limit.

Animals' Angels is very concerned about the unweaned animals to travel without being supplied with milk-exchanger and without being given the necessary rest during the journey from North Lithuania to Koper.

The competent authorities of Slovenia are informed and immediately carry out the necessary inspections. The animals are loaded onto a vessel going to the Middle East. The authorities are still working on the follow up and will take actions consequent to their controls.

Animals' Angels is still investigating to verify the conditions of the calves and to ensure that the existing legislation is complied with.
