Animals' Angels inspects Pugu cattle market. Around 500 ‚slaughter' cattle are for sale.

One of the most pressing problems at the market is the use of unsuitable ramps and transport vehicles. The ramps are run-down and their side rails are rusty and much too narrow. Besides, their construction results in a gap whenever a transport vehicle tracks in on them. Hence, during loading, cattle often get caught with their legs or slip, resulting in broken or twisted limbs.

Our team already contacted the competent authority on this matter and repeatedly filed complaints to the market administration.  In their response, they refer to the costs of remodeling as being too high.  As an emergency measure, our team closes the gaps with wooden slats, but we will continue to strive after a long-term solution.
