On the highway in northern Italy Animals’ Angels discovers two transporters which carry laying hens to the slaughterhouse. The animals are in a pitiful state: they have a lot of bare spots, are worn out and frail. The cages are overcrowded, some animals are squeezed against the sidewalls. The cage ceiling is too low for the animals to stand upright. One chicken appears to have a broken leg. These worn-out laying hens make clear how the animals are exploited for the production of eggs.
