Animals’ Angels visit the saleyard in Forbes. The facility is not covered so the sheep are fully exposed to the heat and cold.
This day is around 30 °C and in our view, some pens hold too many sheep. We identify a number of sheep with conditions that are assessed as being consistent with the examples in the ‘Is your animal fit to load’ guide. The sheep are marked along their back with a stripe in paint and taken to another area where they are shot.
We are recording all the relevant information for our report with the hope that proactive action is taken to prevent further possible breaches of the animal welfare legislation.
