Australia: Visiting Echuca Saleyard

Animals’ Angels visits Echuca and District Livestock Exchange where approx. 126 horses, 2 donkeys and 3 alpaca are for sale.

We note all pens have water and some have feed remaining on the ground. While inspecting all animals we are asked to check two horses for their fitness to sell and transport. The veterinarian with Animals’ Angels requires one horse to be walked, and ridden before making a decision. The other horse appears to have colic and after she is fed, she appears much better. The veterinarian is satisfied both horses are fit.

Hopefully new management will change some processes to ensure monitoring at arrival and loading out.
