Animals‘ Angels revisits the saleyard at Warrnambool. There are approximately 1080 bulls, dairy cows and calves for sale. In our view, many of the dairy cows have a very low ‚body condition score’. The ridge of their spine, hips and ribs are very visible. Although alert and moving in the confines of their sale pen, we believe that their fitness to endure a long transport is in doubt. Most are sold to a local slaughter facility.
We observe a selling agent hit a number of bobby calves with a moving paddle. These points are raised with management on the day and will also mentioned in our report.
