Australia: Visiting Yass Saleyard – we Hope for Quick Improvements

Animals’ Angels visit Yass where there are approximately 25.000 sheep for sale. The facility is under cover and the animals are protected from the sun and rain.

The manager is present nevertheless we identify many sheep who are not fit to transport or sell at the facility in sale pens. Additionally it appears that the fitness to sell animals is decided by agents as is the penning density. Management are ultimately responsible for compliance to relevant legislation and general animal welfare at the saleyard.

We will document the relevant facts in our report to industry in the hope that improvements are made as soon as possible.
