Australia: Visiting South Australian Livestock Exchange

Livestock Exchange Australia

Animals’ Angels visit the South Australian Livestock Exchange to observe the penning of sheep and cattle the night before sale. Apart from 3 sheep who we find in a sale pen and who are not fit to sell or transport, most of the animals are in acceptable condition. The three unfit sheep are moved and euthanized within 90 minutes. Besides, some pens were too tight and did not have sufficient space for the sheep to lay down.

We revisit the saleyard on the next day which is sale day where a total of 4252 sheep are for sale. There were also 120 cattle for sale on the sale day. All were in acceptable condition and had plenty of room to lie down to rest.
