Chile: Ferry Company Wants to Improve Animal Welfare During Ship Transports

Calves Transports Chile

The ferry company Navimag reacted positively to our report and announced measures to improve animal welfare. In July 2018, Animals' Angels accompanied two calf transporters on a 4-day ferry crossing in southern Chile. Subsequently, we drew up a list of requirements which identifies the existing grievances and necessary improvement measures. The ferry company reacted immediately and announces that the demands will be implemented as far as possible. From now on there should be enough food available on the boats for the transported animals. Our demand for a permanent employee to look after the animals on board is also taken seriously and checked.

We are in contact with Navimag and will check to what extent their announcements will be implemented.
