Germany: Animal Welfare Project Days at the Secondary School in Weiskirchen

Animal Welfare in School Lessons

Animals' Angels is back at the secondary school in Weiskirchen. We are invited to carry out project days for all 5th graders. The 68 pupils remember us from our last visit in December. At that time we presented the topic of animal transport and the work of our organisation.

The project days provide a wonderful opportunity to explore the issue of farm animal welfare from different perspectives. The focus is on the three most common farm animal species in Germany: cattle, pigs and chickens. Together with the students, we explore their needs and creatively apply the knowledge gained.

The actual conditions under which animals are kept in agriculture and the impact of animal husbandry on nature and the environment are also interactively developed and addressed. This is followed by the question of what can be done to help the animals.

The pupils are enthusiastic and show great interest in the topics. We would like to thank the school management and all the staff for inviting us again and for the enriching days with the youngest pupils of the Eichenlaub School! We are already looking forward to our next visit.
