Greece: We are Threatened and Shouted at by Drivers - but we Carry on!

Lamb Transport Greece

Before the Christmas holidays, as we all know, the demand for meat increases and with it the number of animal transports on the roads. We are in Greece in the week before Christmas. Here we inspect animal transports of lambs that are brought from Romania to the Greek slaughterhouses.

But we have big problems to even see the animals on board of the transports: The drivers get nervous when they see our team and try everything to keep us away from the animals. They seem to know that their transports do not even comply with the legal requirements. But we have been on this route for years for the animals and will remain so in the future - no matter how much the drivers yell at us or threaten us.
