Together with the VSPCA team, we visit villages in the region of Bhimunipatnam to stop them from bringing 'mixed-race' calves to the temple of Simhachalam. The tradition is well-stablished and the villagers assume that their calves will have a good life at the temple’s shelter. But sadly, this is not the case. With our education campaign, we want to explain to the villagers what fate really awaits their claves, and stop the tradition.
The reactions so far are very positive, but ultimately, it will turn out at the temple whether the number of calves will really decrease. We will continue to tour around in our ‘Protect-the-Calves-Truck’ in the next month to circulate our education material as wide as possible.
