India: Taking Action at Cattle Markets

On behalf of Animals‘ Angels, the VSPCA-team takes action at cattle markets in India.

Our presence at the markets alone is now enough to prevent the sellers from overloading the transports. Sridevi and her team educate the vendors and farmers on transport legislation and tirelessly answer their questions. They intervene wherever possible and assist in emergencies – like in a case of a cow whose head is tied to her front leg, making it impossible for her to move even a tiny bit. Sridevi cuts the rope and talks to the farmer.

With many small steps, we advocate for a respectful treatment of the animals around Vishakhapatnam.  At the same time, we are in conversation with the competent authorities to make the idea of animal welfare, at all levels, find its way into people’s daily routine with the called ‘farm’ animals.
