Animals' Angels attends the International Welfare Conference on Poultry Catching and Loading in Leiden, Netherlands. The conference is organised by the Dutch animal welfare organisation Eyes on Animals. We thank Eyes on Animals for bringing together industry representatives, scientific experts, veterinary officials and animal welfare organisations to start a dialogue on how to improve the situation of birds during transport and, in particular, during loading procedures. Because this is clear: common catching methods (e.g. catching the birds by one leg and carrying them upside down to the containers and crates) are by no means acceptable and against the law. They cause immense stress, injury and suffering to the birds. There is an urgent need for action, and we will continue to work for improvements for the birds on transport.
