Poland: Inspection of Bodzentyn Horse Market

The team of Viva! Interwencje, on behalf of Animals’ Angels, inspects the horse market in Bodzentyn, taking place simultaneously to the big horse market in Skaryszew. The market in Bodzentyn sees a much smaller number of horses, not more than 15. But still a problem at this market is the fact that there is no real supervision of the horse trade.

A big slaughterhouse truck arrives at the market to pick up all the horses. The loading of the horses takes very long and in the meantime, all the market personnel is gone, leaving the market users on their own. There is also no veterinarian present on the market, throughout the whole market time, including the time of the loading of the truck.

The team contacts the city council and the county veterinarian to find out where the market staff and the supervising veterinarian are, but with no result. The team will make official inquiries in this issue, but the situation already proves that the market is short of real veterinary supervision.
