For years Animals' Angels has criticized the conditions at the central camel market in Qatar: poor infrastructure, more than half of the animals are exposed to the burning sun without protection even in summer, completely inadequate water supply, broken fences, lack of space and lack of hygiene.
During our current mission we finally noticed significant improvements for the camels: There is a new camel market. There is shade for all animals, large water tanks in all pens, spacious enclosures and loading ramps. Overall, the atmosphere at the market is calm.
Nevertheless, there is room for improvement and we are making suggestions to the new operating company. But for now, we are happy that the first steps have been taken and the animals are exposed to much less stress than before.
