Animals’ Angels takes part in the City of Frankfurt’s holiday programme

Once again this year, Animals’ Angels is taking part in the City of Frankfurt’s holiday programme with its offer ‘Hello Cow, Sheep and Chicken!’. We’re offering children the chance to spend a day exploring the topic of ‘farm’ animals – in our tried-and-tested partnership with the Sindlingen Children’s and Youth Centre and the Sindlinger Glückswiese.
Together with eight 9–11-year-olds, we immerse ourselves in the world of ‘farm’ animals. Through play, we explore how the animals spend their lives and build them a species-appropriate home. Then we head outside and set off together for the Sindlinger Glückswiese. There, the founder and director, Isabell Germann-Müller, is waiting for us. She introduces us to her goats, cattle, chickens, sheep and donkeys, and tells us their touching stories and the circumstances of their lives. The children are moved, listen intensely and ask lots of questions.
As two donkeys have recently lost their mother and are standing quietly at the edge of the stable, Isabell explains that their only joy at the moment is a daily walk. Spontaneously, the idea arises to take the donkeys for a walk straight away. Equipped with halters and lead ropes, we all set off together. The donkeys show increasing signs of vitality and walk relaxed and curious alongside the children. By the end, the whole group is beaming.
During the feedback session, the most common comment was: “I loved everything!” We leaders found it particularly touching to see the care and genuine interest with which the children interacted with the animals. A brilliant day!
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the teams of Glückswiese, of the Sindlingen Children's and Youth Centre and of the Ferienkarussell Frankfurt.
