The Sudanese Ministry of Agriculture has conducted animal welfare workshops in three regions of the country. Embedded in the EU-funded grant project LESP, the workshops took place in Sinnar, Blue Nile and White Nile from February 19 to 25. Participants were shown our training video and addressed animal welfare of 'farmed' animals using our flyers and posters. According to the Ministry, depending on the location, the participants included traders, transporters, control authorities, police, farmers and children.
The Ministry is planning events in other regions in the south of the country. We are very pleased that the issue of animal welfare of ‚farmed' animals is playing a growing role in Sudan and the IGAD region and that we are contributing with our materials.
