ANIMALS’ ANGELS are present when approx 14610 sheep arrive on 23 trucks to the port for loading onto the Ocean Drover which will take them to the Middle East or Turkey. The animals will be killed without pre-stunning.  New drivers are delivering to the port and are not complying with the ASEL or state requirements in that they must check all animals on board their trucks when they park. This means a downer or trapped animal will not be detected until the truck is unloaded and the delay could result in serious injury or death. We observe many sheep who’s backs are pressed against the roof. They should be able to stand without touching the overhead structures. The state regulator was not present until approx 60 minutes before loading ended.
