Australia: Visiting Ensay Saleyard

[Translate to englisch:] Saleyard Australien

Animals’ Angels attend the Ensay Saleyard sale day to observe the conditions of the approximately 1300 cattle who are offered for sale. This lack of fit for purpose infrastructure is due to the sale occurring just once a year. Apart from a few pens that have water troughs, the pens holding cattle do not have water. The day was very warm and as there are insufficient pens with water to take many cattle overnight, many cattle would have gone without water for many hours. This is a major concern with Ensay and the other three saleyards that comprise the ‘Mountain calf sales’. The only operable ramp is old so trucks wait and wait to load the cattle. Only one truck loaded cattle and there is no sign of any other trucks.

A few of the water troughs that did have water contained filthy water.
