Egypt: The Workers at the Market in Birqash Seem to be Developing a Sense of Injustice

Loading of Camels at Birqash Market, Egypt

The camel market in Birqash is once again very busy. Our team is again on site to observe the loading of the animals. As soon as the workers become violent towards the animals, they intervene immediately.

They have the impression that the workers and traders are less brutal with the camels when they are being watched. Our team members Hussein and Mohamed are happy to have good conversations with some of the workers. It is also interesting to note that the workers and traders are increasingly shying away from our team's cameras. This does not make their work any easier, but it is a good sign that an awareness of injustice is slowly emerging here. Because when we started working at the market, they were still quite eager to be photographed by us.
