Spain: Inspection of Léon Horse Market

Animals‘ Angels and ANDA again inspect Léon horse market. After last year’s complaint about the many violations during transports and poor veterinary inspections, the official veterinarians are doing a good job today.

In freezing temperatures and beating wind, a team of official veterinarians is working at the loading ramps the whole day inspecting transports and animals.

Additionally, the floor at the main entrance was covered with a special non-slip surface.

Generally, the animals are in good condition. But nonetheless, we see unattended and broken hoofs, dull fur, animals having a cold with cough and thick nasal discharge, eye inflammations and so on.

The market still is chaotic and stressful for the animals. But we are glad about the big commitment shown by the official veterinarians today. We hope it will be retained.
